It is finally finished, and we can show it to you!

Yes, we are talking about the “Ático Puerta Santa María” opportunity, which has cost us so much sweat because we wanted it to turn out well.

In the end we have grown very fond of it, since the whole Brickstarter team has been fully involved to make sure everything went well.

It is one of the projects that has taken us the most work, since we carried out a complete renovation of the apartment. And as you all know, no renovation is easy.

First, we carried out the main tasks before diving fully into the renovation:

• Changes in the ownership of the utilities.
• Registration of the tourist license.
• Setting up the internet connection.
• Emptying the entire home of the old furniture.
• Deciding what we need to renovate so that the apartment looks new.
• Requesting quotes from different contractors.
• Applying for a building permit at Cádiz City Hall.

Once we had all of the above, we selected the right contractor (best value for money) and got down to work:

• Design of the renovation.
• Choice of the materials and colors we wanted for the tiles, flooring, kitchen furniture, hardwood floors, paint, etc.

As for the design of the renovation, the restructuring of the bathroom took us the most work, so that it would be more spacious and functional. Therefore, we decided to build a larger shower, so that guests can enjoy a relaxing shower. We moved the washbasin and placed it where the bidet is, and this way we gain more space.

On the other hand, there was the choice of materials and colors. We decided to create a pleasant, neutral environment with a palette of gray colors and whites that would contrast with the decoration in black details.  

Once the work had started, at the same time we were coming up with all kinds of ideas for the decoration. So we began the following tasks, so that once the renovation was finished, everything would already be ready.

• We looked for the large kitchen appliances.
• We designed the layout of the space for the furniture.
• We acquired the appropriate decoration and furniture. We bought everything needed so that tourists can have a good stay (kitchen utensils, towels, sheets, duvets, blankets, comforters, toaster, juicer, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, etc.). 

As we said, we wanted to play with shades of gray, but with contrast, which is why we selected furniture in gray, white and black tones. What we intended was for the apartment to gain spaciousness and brightness and at the same time be cozy, without losing functionality.

We used the black contrasts in the lighting, shelving and decoration. In addition, we placed various plants to add warmth to the atmosphere.

Finally, all of this stopped being a shopping list and became reality. The work was completed and we sent everything to the apartment. There, our team took care of assembling everything and adding the finishing touches.

The last tasks we carried out were:

• Taking attractive photographs that capture the essence of the home.
• Creating profiles on the various vacation rental platforms and managing them to obtain bookings. 
• Market study to set the prices for the stay. 

And finally! After all this work, our first guests arrived on July 30. A lovely young couple who were amazed by the apartment, and we were as happy as could be to see that our work had been worth it.
