Brickstarter

Frequently asked questions

How do we select our investment opportunities?

The opportunities we publish on our page are selected after analyzing data on multiple variables from vacation-rental platforms, the main real estate portals and other public sources. In this way we look for properties with a reasonable balance between return and risk, without this guaranteeing any results.

What happens if there is a payment default?

Our tourist apartments have payment default insurance, subject to the terms and limits of the policy; it does not guarantee the outcome of the investment. In addition, stays are usually charged in advance.

When can I recover my investment?

You can sell your holding to other investors on the Brickstarter Marketplace. Please note that this depends on the liquidity of the market at that time, as we cannot guarantee you a buyer, nor that the price will equal or exceed the amount invested. If you sell your holding, you keep all income paid up to that point. If the property is sold, you will receive your share of the proceeds of the sale once the transaction has been settled and after deduction of the applicable costs, fees and taxes. There is no guaranteed timeframe, and the amount may be lower than the amount invested.

Who manages the properties?

Brickstarter analyzes the results of each property and selects the manager it considers most suitable in each case. Some apartments are managed directly by Brickstarter and others are delegated to a third-party company, whose work and results we supervise.

How can I track the evolution of my investments?

You can check the evolution of your investments in your dashboard. Your investment information is updated on a monthly basis.

How do I receive my income?

When there is income to distribute, you will receive it automatically in your Brickstarter account on the 10th day of each month. If the 10th day falls on a holiday or weekend, you will receive it on the next business day. Please note that the income is paid to whoever holds the position at the time of payment.

How is the income I receive taxed if I am a natural person?

The tax treatment of the amounts you receive through Brickstarter depends on your personal tax situation and on the rules that apply to you. Where applicable, the withholdings or payments on account required by current regulations will be applied. Brickstarter issues the relevant withholding certificates.

We recommend that you consult a tax adviser on how these amounts are taxed in your specific case. This information is general in nature and does not constitute tax advice.

How is the income I receive taxed if I am a non-resident natural person?

Taxation depends on your country of tax residence, on whether a double taxation treaty exists between that country and Spain, and on your personal situation. Where applicable, the withholdings required by current regulations will be applied. Where withholdings are made, Brickstarter issues the corresponding certificate.

How is the income I receive taxed if I am a legal entity (company)?

If you invest as a legal entity (company), taxation depends on your tax situation and on the rules that apply to you. Where applicable, the withholdings or payments on account required by current regulations will be applied. Brickstarter issues the relevant withholding certificates.

What happens if I die?

If an investor dies, their rights and balance with Brickstarter form part of their estate. To deal with the position, the heirs will need to contact Brickstarter at info@brickstarter.com and prove their status as heirs, in accordance with applicable law.

Inheritance taxation depends on each heir's circumstances (for example, the autonomous community of residence, the relationship with the deceased and pre-existing wealth) and on the rules that apply to them. We recommend consulting a tax and legal adviser. This information is general in nature and does not constitute advice.
