Since our latest opportunity is in Alicante, and it is new territory for Brickstarter, we wanted to share with you everything we discovered while researching the area and its tourist sites. So, below, we show you the wonderful places that Alicante hides, in case you feel like visiting it.
The Explanada de España is the main seafront promenade of Alicante, an ideal place for a leisurely stroll over its famous mosaic and among its tall palm trees while you look out over the sea. It is also usually very busy and lively, since there are numerous shops, restaurants, etc. around it.
Moreover, if we continue along the promenade, we can reach Alicante’s various beaches or the marina, where we can have a drink on a sailboat or at the pubs nearby.
This beach is the most central one, since it is located in the heart of the city. It is very accessible, has all the necessary facilities, and holds the Blue Flag beach quality distinction. It is a sandy beach that invites you to lie down, sunbathe and relax in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
The most representative monument of Alicante is Santa Bárbara Castle. It is located at one of the highest points of the Alicante coast, so we can enjoy the best views of the city and the sea.
This castle dates from the late ninth century, during Muslim rule. After several renovations, the castle was abandoned until 1960, when it was rescued and opened to the public, and today it is one of the most visited places in Alicante.
The Church of Santa María is the oldest religious building in the city, dating from the fourteenth century. It was built on the remains of Alicante’s main Islamic mosque.
In addition, closer to our opportunity, there is another religious building worth visiting. It is the Co-Cathedral of San Nicolás, which stands out for its Herrerian Renaissance style with a beautiful cloister.
The building that houses the City Hall is worth visiting, since it has spectacular halls. Even before going in, we can admire its façade and entrance with striking sculptures, where the so-called “Cota Cero” is located, the reference point from which the altitude above sea level of the different Spanish cities is measured.
All of these wonderful places are very close to the tourist apartment that we launched last week. As you can see, the location is central.
